are-quaker-oats-safe-to-eat
Hi, Carol
Thank you for your question.
In December 2023, the US FDA announced that Salmonella may have contaminated some specific products manufactured by the Quaker Oats company.
While heat (cooking) kills Salmonella, most of the recalled products will not be cooked before consumed and therefore should be discarded.
This link (https://www.fda.gov/safety/recalls-market-withdrawals-safety-alerts/quaker-recalls-granola-bars-and-granola-cereals-due-possible-health-risk) describes the specific products potentially contaminated. Quaker Oats products not on this recall list can be assumed to be safe unless otherwise noted.
I hope this information is helpful.
Mark
