Natural ways to banish household pests

A practical way to keep pests out of the home is to remove what attracts them: accessible food, water, shelter and entry routes. Fix leaks, clean crumbs and spills, keep waste covered and close gaps around doors, windows and pipes.

For pantry insects, discard infested foods and clean storage areas thoroughly. For other pests, use identification and monitoring to choose targeted measures. Avoid relying on unproven “natural” repellents, especially near food preparation surfaces.
